Original images and designs of the restoration project that recovered the symbolic and artistic meaning of the building.
A building by Ponti built between 1960 and 1965 that, up to now, has escaped criticism although it is not a minor work neither in size nor in terms of themes and expressive contents proposed by the famous architect. Gio Ponti believed that “continuity of an expression” was the supreme form of creative talent. This is precisely the point of view for the restoration of the building by operating through functional adjustments capable of recovering the symbolic, institutional and, above all, artistic meaning of the building.
A homage to Ponti, without falling into forgery, but trying to operate with the utmost philological rigour. This work was revealed thanks to the written contributions of some experts on Ponti’s work ad the architects performing the restoration and has placed it in the panorama of the master’s national and international accomplishments. The publication is full of images and detailed original drawings of the furnishings and interiors made, which have survived for nearly 50 years.
