Rintala, Sami

A Finnish architect and artist, Sami Rintala studied architecture in Helsinki. Together with his partner Marco Casagrande he created a series of architectural sculptures that were featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale.
These works presented a critical view of society, nature and the role of the architect in contemporary civilization. In 2007 he opened an architectural studio in Oslo with the Icelandic architect Dagur Eggertsson and began lecturing in numerous universities. The material, narrative and conceptual qualities of wood strongly characterise their architecture.
