Artist films, video and special reviews recounting the multiple facets of contemporary art.
Returning to MAXXI for a second edition, Videoart Week presents a full week devoted entire to Italian and international video art. From the Magic Lantern Film Festival to Kizart, the programme devoted to the youngest audience, from the works of Garrett Bradley, Chris Burden, Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Apichatpong Weerasethakul to the Italians Nico Vascellari and Daniele Puppi.
All this flanked by meetings with the artists, in conversation with international critics and curators such as Sophie Lauwers, Alessandra Mammì, Vittoria Matarrese, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Davide Quadrio and organized in collaboration with the Academia Belgica and the American Academy in Rome.
A collage of new works for the city of Rome, retracing the history of this artistic idiom which from pure documentation has become an expressive force. Videoart Week is part of Videocittà – the Festival of Vision conceived by Francesco Rutelli, president of ANICA. A season of cultural events programmed in Rome and bound by the fil rouge of the audio-visual medium and the diverse disciplines and expressive form of images in movement.
