In the context of the G20, of which India holds the presidency for the year 2023, the Bihar Museum in Patna has proposed the realisation of the Together We Art project in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the Indian Government: an exhibition curated by Chief Curator Alka Pande, centred on the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbhakam (One Earth, One Family, One Future), which finds its foundations in the Maha Upanishad and focuses on the themes of tolerance, inclusiveness, peaceful coexistence and ecology.
The project staged first at the Bihar Museum in Patna and later at the National Museum in New Delhi, involves 50 works by contemporary artists from India and the G20 countries. In this context, MAXXI, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Culture and in cooperation with the Indian Ministry of Culture, has selected the artist Francesca Leone with the installation project Una rosa, è una rosa, è una rosa: three flowers of different sizes, made from sheet metal recovered from disused construction sites or abandoned buildings, reveal the signs of time on their surfaces. Tears and rust that the artist heals with colour as if they were scars on the skin. In this sick garden that preserves the traces of ancient beauty, one glimpses the hope of salvation.
