€ 6.00 performance + talk Marinella Senatore, 7.30 PM, Foyer Guido Reni – MINI Space

It is not an “object”, nor is it theatre or dance, it dies not really belong to any discipline. Artistic performance, one of the principal forms of expression in contemporary creativity, explores and questions the way in which the body is seen and its language in relation to society.

What are the spaces and the confines that define performance?

In order to promote new points of view regarding this issue, MAXXI is presenting the project Azione – Interazione: three performance events during which the form’s characteristic interaction with the audience will be explored.

The forgetting of air
In this new performance, conceived for MAXXI, the “material” shared between the audience and the performers is air itself and with it the voice. Breathing is the first individual autonomous action that brings life to a being, and the end of breathing marks its absence.
The protagonist is a person who has risked losing the power of breathing, who has experienced first hand the risk of suffocation or drowning by crossing the Mediterranean Sea as a clandestine immigrant.

The artist Francesca Grilli intends to emphasise how experience of the potential non-breathing is contained in a voice that remains, that resounds and that shares with us the same air.

The Azione – Interazione project has been produced with the contribution of the Amici del MAXXI
