Anna is an orphaned girl of 12, timid and introverted, who lives in Sapporo with her adoptive mother. For the summer holidays she is sent to a relatives who live in a seaside village in eastern Hokkaido. One day as she is out walking she comes across and old villa separated form the coast by a shallow stretch of sea. Here she meets Marnie, a blonde girl with blue eyes who resemble someone she often dreams about…
