6 artists and a group of 60 people together in a collective performance in the museum, taking possession of the spaces and experimenting with an inversion of roles: from passive visitors to active and participatory visitors.
This is TAXXI, the final event in a project by the Education Department, curated by Myriam Laplante, conceived and realised by Petra Arndt, Ali Assaf, Myriam Laplante, Ilaria Loquenzi, Branislav Petric and Ganni Piacentini.
The free performance will enliven the museum’s public spaces (the entrance, the stairs, the piazza) with actions, tableaux vivants, videos and sounds developed during the workshops to create and collective performative and audio installation.
The project, which has involved ordinary people and artists in the realisation of a choral event, has allowed a heterogeneous public to become familiar with MAXXI’s spectacular spaces and contemporary artistic practices.

For 2011 and 2012, the programme will see the involvement of important artists and architects, providing a direct feed to contemporary thought.
