MAXXI’s Collection of Art and Architecture represents the founding element of the museum and defines its identity. Since October 2015, it has been on display with different arrangements of works.

MAXXI will also be participating in this year’s edition of the Day of the Contemporary, the major event devoted to contemporary art and its public promoted by AMACI and allowing visitors free admittance from 19.00 to 22.00, with the last entrance at 21.00.
Also making a welcome return is the AMACI project that involves an internationally famous Italian artist as the protagonist of each edition of the Day. For 2011’s Day of the Contemporary, AMACI has called to the stage Giulio Paolini, responsible for the event’s defining image. A symbolic architecture, formal perspective and a gold frame that encloses it and highlights the vanishing point with a figure seen from behind: elements always present in his work and that once again draw attention to issues of particular interest to him such as the dimension associated with the perception of the work of art and its museum destination.
