From Kentridge to Hirst, passing through Iñárritu and Björk, the genesis and mysteries of monumental and ambitious works.

What do artists such as Kiefer, Kentridge, Boltanski, Barney and Hirst, writers and poets with a strong visual vocation such as Pamuk and Balestrini, filmmakers such as Iñárritu and Greenaway, visionary musicians like Björk and creators of famous scenography like Es Devlin have in common? They are very different artists with unique stories and sensitivities yet they all share the idea of an art that creates monumental, pluralistic, ambitious world-works that are sometimes impossible to transfer or rearrange.

The fifteen artists that this book focuses on are creators of worlds. Vincenzo Trione sets up for the reader an original museum that is both imaginary and possible, real and potential, hybrid and versatile. And, like in a museum, Trione starts from the works of art, talking about their genesis, multiple senses, mysteries, even with the support of preparatory sketches, projects, and direct testimonies from the artists.
