Summer music shows at MAXXI
every Thursday from 17 June to 15 July, 19.00-22.00
Free entrance to the concerts when purchasing a museum ticket
For five Thursdays, from 17 June to 15 July, from 19.00 to 22.00, your museum ticket gives you free entrance to the MAXXIMALSIM concerts in the museum’s external spaces, the first season of collateral events running alongside MAXXI’s exhibition programme and featuring five musical performances staged for the first time in Italy and curated by Luca Lo Pinto, Valerio Mannucci, Nicola Pecoraro / Nero.
On the occasion of the first MAXXIMALISM evening, from 22.00 to 24.00 the MAXXI piazza will also be animated by the MTV music event Brand New Music Art.
As the curators explain, “MAXXIMALISM has been organized to draw attention to a trend that in recent years has seen a number of the most interesting and innovative musicians contrasting the minimalism of the 1990s and early 2000s by working in the opposite direction with what we might define as a “maximalist” approach in which popular and ethnic influences are enriched by pop contaminations and a sensibility also linked to the field of contemporary visual arts.”
Artists demonstrating an ability to combine diverse idioms and ideas in a spontaneous and direct manner to express new and personal stylistic forms have been invited to participate. Estasy, an internationally known Italian musician and performer, will prepare a musical selection for each artist to introduce the performances.
