His best-known projects include the maritime hub of La Maddalena, created for the G8 summit of 2009 (then moved to L’Aquila), the two Torri del Bosco Verticale in Milan and the Villa Méditerranée de Marseille, an exhibition and research centre facing the Mediterranean that was inaugurated in 2013 during the celebrations of Marseille as European Capital of Culture.
In addition to serving as director of the architectural magazines Domus (2004–07) and Abitare (2010), Boeri is full professor of Urban Planning at the Politecnico di Milano, visiting professor at various universities, and a contributing author to magazines and newspapers. He founded Multiplicity, a research agency that studies urban transformation and the flow of illegal immigration in the Mediterranean (Kassel, Documenta XI, 2002).
