MAXXI’s Collection of Art and Architecture represents the founding element of the museum and defines its identity. Since October 2015, it has been on display with different arrangements of works.
Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo is the main character of Nature‘s eighth edition, a series of monographic exhibitions where the involved architect designs a site-specific installation in the MAXXI’s Gian Ferrari hall.
A designer particularly attentive to architecture’s artistic and expressive potential and the technique necessary for its realisation, Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo has established herself on the national and international scene with a series of projects of outstanding architectural quality and relevant theoretical depth. Parallel to her work as an architect, Grasso Cannizzo has made frequent forays into the field of temporary installations in museums.
For Nature, she created a work – IN COLLISIONE – that reiterates some of the aspects that make her work different from that of all other authors: the idea of time as an element of design, movement, the non-repeatable mix of technique and art, the ability to make space and materials interact, and the ability to enhance the existing.
