Wednesday 24 September, 18.00
MAXXI B.A.S.E., Graziella Lonardi Buontempo Hall – admittance free

In the early 1960s, with Italy in the full flow of economic recovery, Adriano Olivetti decided to build the Electronic Calculation Centre, the factory devoted to production of the machines of the future, computers, and chose to entrust the commission to Le Corbusier.

Silvia Bodei’s book Le Corbusier e Olivetti. La Usine Verte per il Centro di calcolo elettronico offers a detailed reconstruction, thanks to the numerous previously unpublished documents from the Fondation Le Corbusier and the Fondazione Adriano Olivetti, of the genesis of the conceptual process, shedding light on ideas, solutions and forms on the basis of which the project was gradually developed.
