Twelve young filmmakers, twelve films that for various reasons have attracted the attention of the festivals, the critics and the public: twelve stories that trace a contemporary portrait of Italian society. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, from 1 July though to 10 October, MAXXI will be hosting the film season XXI SECOLO curated by Luciano Sovena.
Not only screenings but also meetings with the recent years leading talents from Alessandro Rak to Guido Lombardi, from Alice Rohrwacher, Emma Dante to Saverio Costanzo and many others who, as well as showing their debut films, will be conversing with the public, live and without any form of mediation.

Sergio, musician by vocation, taxi driver through necessity, turned his back on music ten years earlier, when his elder brother Alfredo abandoned him just as their artistic career was taking off. From that day Sergio withdrew to his taxi, a sealed microcosm through which he filters the outside world and in which people, lives and coincidences come and go: an exploration of perception, in search of happiness.
