Why does everybody – or almost – want to live in the city? According to Livio Sacchi, there is only one reason: one feels and one is freer than elsewhere.

With a critical look at the best and worst solutions adopted in the cities around the world, Sacchi observes the ever-evolving relationship between man and the urban space, trying to imagine its developments.

In Paris like in Tokyo, in Milan and Rome as in Delhi and New York, talking today about cultural and architectural heritage, centre and periphery, means addressing issues of community and citizenship, of physical and digital infrastructures, of unstoppable globalisation and its consequences. These increasingly fast changes, which are seemingly uncontrolled, constitute a great opportunity to create a world on a human scale and fit for its potentials..
