A performance retracing the Virgilian epic, on the occasion of Rome’s birthday.

The project focuses on the importance of myth as a founding element of the community. In Aeneas’ journey it is possible to retrace the long history of a country that finds its roots in Rome – and in the mixture of blood, cultures and traditions.

programme
The Domenico Mazzocchi orchestra, conducted by Maestro Fabio Galadini, perform Ottorino Respighi‘s Antiche danze ed arie per liuto, terza suite (16th-17th centuries).
This is followed by Dido’s Lament, an aria from the third act of Henry Purcell‘s Dido and Aeneas.
Actors Viola Graziosi and Graziano Piazza recite short excerpts from ancient classical writers, describing the birth and development of what was to become our civilisation.

Event conceived and realised together with Fondazione Leonardo – Civiltà delle Macchine, in collaboration with the Museo Civico di Lavinio and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Rome and the Municipality of Pomezia.
