An exhibition containing the most iconic images of a photograph whose pictures have made history

Douglas Kirkland rose to prominence thanks to a photo shoot he made at the age of 24 for Look Magazine, where he portrayed Marilyn Monroe between the sheets. He was one of the protagonists of Life Magazine’s golden age thanks to his unforgettable photo shoots devoted to the world of fashion and entertainment. His portraits include the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Nicole Kidman, Leonardo Di Caprio, Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol, and many Italians, such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni.

Other than making portraits, he worked on almost 170 film sets, including those of 2001: A Space Oddissey, Titanic, New York, New York, Moulin Rouge, by “freezing” moving images. His set pictures are the main characters of a fascinating journey into the history of cinema and entertainment.

Produced by Istituto Luce Cinecittà with the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. With the participation of MasterCard.
