Art historian, with a degree in Museology, earned a post-graduate degree in Architecture history. Experienced in museum education, she curated learning projects for a few museums in Rome and took part as researcher in projects supervised by University “La Sapienza” and Lazio Region. She has been working since 2004 at MAXXI Education Department that she has been managing since 2014. From academic year 2016_17 she is Professor of Education of the Museum and the Territory at University “La Sapienza”.

Graduated from the D.A.M.S in Bologna and specialised at the LUISS Business School in Art and Heritage Management. She began her professional career at Codess Cultura before joining MAXXI in 2007 where she launched, developed and coordinated the Fondazione’s digital presence, activities that have brought the museum recognition, both national (ICOM Italia Prize 2012 for the best use of social media) and international (People’s Lovie Award and Lovie Award Bronze 2015 for the new web site). In 2015 she conceived and curated the first edition of the international convention Digital Think-in. The digital voice of museums. She is the head of the Communications and Digital Office. She periodically teaches at universities and other educational institutions.
Experienced communication specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the entertainment and performing arts industry. Strong media and communication professional graduated from IED – Istituto Europeo di Design in Art Direction and Copywriting, she’s been working for Romaeuropa Festival from 2013 to 2018 following six festival’s editions on every communication level, from creative production to promotion of every event of the programme. Starting in 2019 she is currently collaborating with the MAXXI communication office, focusing on all digital aspects of the Fondazione’s activities.

Julia Pagel is secretary general of NEMO, the Network of European Museum Organisations. NEMO acts as European umbrella for all national museum organisations and thus speaks for over 30.000 museums in Europe.
Julia graduated with a master’s degree in Art History and Latin American Studies from Freie Universität Berlin in 2004. After her graduation, she worked at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. Before she started to work for NEMO, Julia worked at the Film Market for the Berlinale Film Festival and the German Museums Association. From 2013-2017 Julia was member and Vice-President of the Executive Committee of Culture Action Europe. Since 2019 she is a member of the EU Commission expert group on Cultural Heritage. Julia has initiated and led various EU funded cooperation projects and she has edited several museum related publications.

Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Università Bocconi.
At SDA Bocconi he has been the Government, Health and Not for Profit Faculty Deputy. Until 2016, he directed the Master in Arts Management and Administration (MAMA) and co-directed the Master in International Arts Management (MIAMM). Between 2012 and 2014, he was the Director of the Executive Master in Management of Public Administration (EMMAP). He has conducted numerous research, education and consulting projects with various national and international public sector organizations.
His research activities focus on two main areas. The first is public policies and management in the arts and cultural sector; the second is public network leadership and change in governmental and nonprofit organizations.
He is the author of numerous books and articles on these topics. His works have been published in Public Administration Review, Governance, Public Administration, the International Journal of Arts Management, the Journal of Art and Law and Society, among others. He serves as a reviewer for national and international journals and he is the Associate Editor in Management for the International Journal of Arts Management.
Alex earned both his degree and his Ph.D. in Management from Università Bocconi. From 2018 to 2020 he was Chair of the Arts Management and Arts Entrpreneurship Division at Southern Methodist University, Dallas (US).
