Twelve young filmmakers, twelve films that for various reasons have attracted the attention of the festivals, the critics and the public: twelve stories that trace a contemporary portrait of Italian society. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà, from 1 July though to 10 October, MAXXI will be hosting the film season XXI SECOLO curated by Luciano Sovena.
Not only screenings but also meetings with the recent years leading talents from Alessandro Rak to Guido Lombardi, from Alice Rohrwacher, Emma Dante to Saverio Costanzo and many others who, as well as showing their debut films, will be conversing with the public, live and without any form of mediation.

Auditorium – admittance free
Michele and Lorenzo Raggi are two brothers who live, alone in the world, in a large house at the gates of Rome. One morning a man brings them unexpected news: their house has been officially sold by the legitimate owner, their father Dario who had disappeared 12 years earlier. The two boys decide to go looking for him to reclaim the house where they had always lived. Following the few clues they had, Michele and Lorenzo eventually long and recognise the true meaning of being brothers.
