A selection of the best Italian and international documentaries on contemporary art from the Art Doc Festival archive.
Each evening an art historian or critic will introduce the series Arte in video followed by the screening of two films.
PROGRAMME:
8:30 PM
Introduction by Angela Tecce, Director, Polo Museale della Calabria
9:00 PM
Screenings:
Alfredo Pirri. Lo specchio degli inganni (Italy, 2013, 30′, italian) by Giampaolo Penco
It is the artist who vigorously questions how the art of the past has reached us: from the artist studio home we enter his private world and discover his early work in the theatre, his solitary labours, from the often miniscule and terribly fragile works to the great installations that suggest a continual movement within space.
Niki de Saint Phalle. An architect’s dream (France, 2014, 52′, french, subtitles in english) by Anne Julien and Louise Faure
A portrait of the French-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle, ficussing on an unknown aspect of her work: her monumental and architectural sculptures, the true purpose of her life. The film is associated with the major exhibition on the artist held last year at the Grand Palais in Paris.
Art Doc Festival is a cultural association founded by Antonella Greco, Benedetta Nervi and Lia Polizzotti to enhance knowledge of art and architecture through video, with the objective of offering the public a chance to view the best documentaries of recent years.
