Conceived entirely by the artist for the exhibition at MAXXI, the volume illustrates Thomas Hirschhorn’s research on Pixel-Collage, a series of artworks produced between 2015 and 2017. In addition to the curators’ essays and those by the international critics, the catalogue includes also an anthology of Thomas Hirschhorn’s writings and an original essay written exclusively for MAXXI. Of particular interest is the section Showcase for Thoughts, dedicated to research materials and the sources used by the artist to create his works such as: paintings by other artists, advertising and reportage images, books and short texts. A rich array of illustrations accompanies the book: from views of the installations to the images collected in the Catalog Raisonné for a complete documentation of the Pixel-Collage cycle.
