‘You will be struck by sensuality’, these are the words that open writer Mauro Covacich’s story, an unpublished text on MAXXI that accompanies the visitor inside the museum, tracing the building’s history, its architectural context, its collections and services to the public. The narrative finds its ideal completion in the rich iconographic apparatus that accompanies the volume: views of the exterior of the building alternate with images of the setting up of the building and auteur shots documenting MAXXI’s collection.
The guide also includes brief interviews with the Directors and the President, technical information on the works, the competition, Zaha Hadid’s project and the various activities promoted by the museum. The result is a vivid fresco of MAXXI, an agile tool for approaching the museum’s architecture and collections.
