7 Italian designers from the School of Eindhoven
talking about the journey, the destinations and the new maps of design
A woollen blanket like a great map, a lamp with a flex as long as the distance between Rome and Eindhoven in The Netherlands, mirrors that reflect two different perspectives, a exchange bureau for a new currency, shoes that leave prints that go in the opposite direction and clothes with large pockets for everything we never want to leave behind, a glass walking stick filled with materials and suggestions, and then two sets of tools (saw, hammer and screwdriver) realised two geographically distant but ideally close places.
A group show telling the stories of seven Italian designers who have become cultural migrants and who have been asked to come up with conceptual as well as physical baggage. The exhibition offers opportunities for reflection on the professional lives of the seven, former students of the Eindhoven Design Academy, a true point of reference in a new international capital of design.
