An opportunity to get to know and explore the work of one of the world’s leading book designers
Thanks to a collaboration with the American Academy in Rome, the Dutch graphic designer Irma Boom, “The Queen of Books”, will be at MAXXI to discuss her collaborations with artists and architects. Boom generally performs three distinct roles (designer, editor and art director), investing ingenious techniques to achieve the desired result. Among others she has worked with Rem Koolhaas, De Appel, the contemporary art space in Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum. 50 of her books are included in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. In the era of the iPad and the Kindle, the Dutch designer continues to create marvellously designed traditional books.
Irma Boom is the Designer in Residence at the American Academy in Rome.
